Barbara Walters is Disrespectful of John McCain on The View

Barbara Walters on The View

After watching John McCain‘s appearance on ABC’s The View, I am appalled at how disrespectful, smug, and downright rude Barbara Walters was to McCain. Walters interrupted McCain multiple times and made jabs at him under her breath.

McCain showed great class by not stopping and telling her to stop talking and let him finish answering the questions. It would have been a struggle for me to show as much patience he showed while being shown such disrespect.

The first question Walters asks is why he chose Sarah Palin as his VP pick. McCain goes on to explain that she “is a great person”, “a great governor”, “the most popular governor in America”, “she understands energy issues”, “she’s ignited a spark in America”, “she’s gotten people engaged in the political process”, and “she’s good for America”. In the middle of his explanation, Barbara quickly realizes that she just gave McCain the time to say all these nice things about Palin. Walters then interrupts his answer by saying “you are going to make me regret asking that question”.

I think that set the stage for the rest of the interview.

Barbara then goes on the attack by asking for specifics in how Gov. Palin will reform Washington. Has anyone ever asked Obama or Biden about specifics?

McCain calmly and systematically details out specific examples that show how she has reformed politics in Alaska.

Barbara, what specifically has Obama done in his time in the Senate? Let’s take a look at how you sought these policy specifics from Obama when he appeared on your show.

Nothing there… Let’s see if part two has your hard hitting questions…

Some mention of Obama’s relationship with Rev. Wright, but no real digging into Obama’s poor judge of character for 20 years. Maybe the hard hitting questions come in part three… Let’s see…

Still nothing… Maybe they save the hard hitting questions for last…

Wow. It was great to see that you have such great journalistic integrity when it comes to your political interviews. When you watch the McCain interview and compare it to the Obama interview it is obvious why one of the themes of the Republican National Convention was to bring light to the liberal media.

Not once was Obama interrupted or asked a specific question like Walters demanded of McCain during his interview.

Kudos to McCain for appearing on an obviously pro-liberal show. Once again, McCain shows that he is not afraid to be thrown to the wolves and do it with class. Have no fear, Obabma will have his turn during the debates to answer specific policy questions without the help of his teleprompter telling him exactly what to say.

The head to head debates will show the American people who is ready to be President and who just has the ability to be a really good speaker.

As for Barbara, I think she has already made up her mind.

What are your thoughts? Was Walters disrespectful of John McCain, or was her interview approach appropriate? Leave your comments below.

I WAS APPALLED, BUT NOT SURPRISED. I WATCHED WHOOPI AND SHE JUST SAT THERE GRINDING HER TEETH. WHEN OBAMA WAS ON THEIR SHOW, THEY ALL NEEDED A DRUELING BUCKET. IT IS NOT A REPUBICAN OR A DEMOCRAT THAT THIS WORLD NEEDS, BUT AN AWARENESS THAT THE MORE OUR GOD IS LEFT OUT OF OUR LIVES, THE MORE LIVES GO OUT OF CONTROL. AS MORE AND MORE CATASTROPHIES COME, I BELIEVE PEOPLE WILL BEGIN TO REALIZE HE IS THEIR HOPE NOT POLITICIANS. GOD HELP US ALL.

I agree with Kate. Yet, while we do not put our hope in politicians, as God-fearing individuals we must play our part to see that men and women with strong values that most align with truth and reality (usually a.k.a. “conservatives”) get elected … and their counterparts do not get elected.

Whenever a “journalist” starts off an interview with “I had a chance to say something to Barak Obama (giggle, giggle, giggle)” or “Over the weekend I reread your book….this is a very special book…etc.” compared to basically why did you choose Palin and then interruptting every other sentence, you know the direction the interview is going to go.

Also the introductions for each man…nothing like going on and on about Obama before he comes out compared to McCain, where Walters basically was like, “here is some guy running for President.”

Barbara Walters asked the questions that I wanted answers for. Not only did he not answer the questions he actually completely turned away from her. I was extremely offended that he thinks the public is so stupid. He seems to follow the adage ” feed them lies and give them candy”. I want the answers not fluff. I am an independant voter. I don’t care about the left and the right just answer the questions, inform me of your plans for the country. If it seems that the media is harder on Mccain and Palin it is because they do not answer the questions that are asked of them. Obama just answers the questions and with Mccain and Palin it is like pulling teeth. I am an independant voter. I don’t care if the candidate is a Republican, Democrat. I just want to know what they will do for the country. Drop the propaganda; just give me the facts.

    Ann,
Although, I am doubtful that you are truly independent, I am glad you posted your comment.

I don’t see where McCain skirted any questions. I guess it is easier for Obama to answer questions like “Boxers or Briefs?” which was one of the questions asked when he was on the View.

Since you feel Obama answers the questions “tough questions” then you can probably answer these questions I have not heard any news media outlet have the chance to ask him because they are too busy finding out what type of underwear he wears.

How is Obama’s “Tax Cut” for people who don’t pay any taxes not Welfare?

What does Obama mean when he thinks it is good to “spread the wealth around” rather than put in policy to grow our economy so everyone can be rewarded?

If Obama is for human rights, why would he vote against the Federal Born Alive Infants Protection Act which was supported by other liberal Democrats like Ted Kennedy, Barbara Boxer & Hilary Clinton?

These are just some of the questions that I would like answered by Obama, but know won’t be asked of him because the majority of people interviewing him in the media want him to win.
