Letterman Blasts McCain for Putting The Country First
September 24, 2008 by Celebolitics - Celebrity Politics
John McCain canceled his appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman so he could head back to Washington and work to address the current economic crisis.
So in keeping with the spirit of Celebolitics, David Letterman shows us another example of the Liberal media bias we have in this country.
Here are my Top Ten Reasons why David Letterman is a flaming Liberal:
- He feels his show is more important than the country.
- He replaces McCain with another flaming liberal Keith Olberman
- He wonders why McCain would rather go back to Washington and do his job and what the people of Arizona elected him to do.
- Entitlement – Letterman feels he is entitled to have John McCain on his show.
- Asked Barack Obama, “Have you ever put lipstick on a pig?”, as his hard hitting question.
- Letterman thinks something is wrong with McCain for putting the business of the country before his show.
- Barack Obama’s Late Show appearance = Letterman gushing and gitty
- Said “Governor Palin has not handled a crisis in the past.” (Remind me what crisis Obama has handled as a community leader and Senator. Obama’s record of handling tough situations can be summed up by “voting present”.)
- Thinks McCain wants to suspend his campaign because his poll numbers are “slipping”. Note to Letterman: Not all politicians are driven solely by polls.
- He thinks Obama’s “sit back and do nothing” approach on the economy is more Presidential than McCain’s ability to prioritize and make tough decisions.
Watch Letterman’s comments and draw your own conclusion.

He wasn’t saving this country he was chit-chatting with Katie Couric and still in New York(as reported by Fox News). And you say liberal like its a bad thing. I don’t go around calling you a brown nosing republican do I?(the answer is ‘no’)
Rachel,
Correct. McCain did an interview with Katie Couric for CBS Nightly News instead of doing a scheduled interview with David Letterman. He then went to Washington to work (he still is a senior member of the Senate). Obama also went to Washington after saying he’d go “if they needed him”.
I guess McCain felt in this time of crisis it was more important to speak with a leading news organization about the crisis instead of speaking with David Letterman.
I listened to the interview with Mrs. Couric and I missed the “chit-chatting” that you mentioned. It seemed to me Mrs. Couric, who for an “unbiased” member of the media, asked some tough questions of McCain about the current situation.
I wonder if there would have been more or less “chit-chatting” had McCain done the Letterman show instead of the CBS Evening News?
As for liberal being a bad thing…
If liberal means…
– bigger government (aka higher taxes)
– more regulation
– universal healthcare
– welfare
– pro choice (a woman has the choice to kill an unborn baby)
– subjective truths (there are no absolute truths in the world)
– socialism (unequal distribution of wealth is not ethical)
Then yes. I do think liberalism is a bad thing.
Thanks for not going around calling me a brown nosing republican. I guess I could be called worse things. Like liberal.
A recent poll in Europe asked a group of people why they did not like George Bush?
The overwhleming answer, ” He always puts American interests first.”
Seems to me that is his job!!!!!
